New book looks at medical missions strategy

Charles Fielding knows medicine, and he knows ministry. As a missionary MD, he has seen fellow workers struggle with their identities: Are we preachers, or are we healers?  In his new book, Dr. Fielding advocates joining the two camps into one disciple-making effort.
 
Certainly, sound theology and a clear Gospel presentation are essential. But it is often the physical care in a medical clinic setting that lends credibility to the workers, gains access to homes, and opens closed doors where the Gospel can be shared.  When we live out Christ’s compassion, unreached people can see a living model of God’s love.  As Dr. Fielding explains, we must all consider ourselves both preachers and healers.  Furthermore, an intentional strategy for long-term disciple-making is crucial.
