Short Term Projects

View the Project List

Short term projects typically range from 2-4 weeks. Our project list contains details of dates, durations, and specific needs throughout the 10/40 window.

Long Term Projects

Medical Missions Response has relationships with missionaries working all across the 10/40 window. Many of these missionaries are developing or utilizing health strategies and have a need for long term personnel. These are volunteer positions for qualified health workers who can come to the field with their own funding. If you are interested in pursuing one of these opportunities, or want to just learn more, then please contact us and let us know about your interest.

About MMR projects

You can be a part of the ministries of MMR by volunteering to go on a short-term mission trip. MMR is constantly looking for volunteers to participate in short-term projects. These mission projects are focused around the long-term strategy of a Strategy Coordinator living or working among an unreached people group in the 10/40 Window. For more information on volunteering and what is expected of volunteers, see our Volunteer page.

MMR works closely with active missionaries living and working within the 10/40 Window. MMR guides the missionaries in the strategic use of medical ministries to advance their work. However, MMR does not generate projects. The local missionaries design projects around their particular strategies, location, and people group, and then MMR responds by recruiting volunteers to fulfill these requests.

The cost of participating on an MMR project will vary depending upon the area in which you serve.  All of MMR's projects have a project cost + airfare format. MMR will set a project cost that will cover visas for entry, in-country transportation, medicines, room and board, translators, and other field costs. This project cost will cover everything except immunizations and your own spending money for snacks, tourist trips, and souvenirs.  You will be responsible for paying for your airfare to the country.  MMR will arrange this travel for you.  We do this in order to simplify the arrival schedules of all team members for the sake of field personnel who will have to greet you at the airport.  We work very hard to get the best price possible.

Project screening

Before responding to a need from the mission field, MMR reviews each project to ensure it meets several criteria. Each project must:

  • Be targeted in the 10/40 Window
  • Come from a missionary living or working long-term among an unreached people group
  • Be part of a strategy to start a church planting movement (CPM) among a people group
  • Have a plan for local follow-up after the short-term volunteers are gone
