The most common question about participation received at MMR is from students. Students, especially those interested in sharing the Gospel or being long-term missionaries themselves, are always looking for places to serve. We wish we could say that we had more student opportunities available, but we are limited in our ability to assist students at this time. We are working on this issue. We feel that getting students connected early is an investment in the future of missions.
That being said, we can take some students. Every team that MMR takes can use students when we do not fill a team with medical professionals. Our primary purpose through MMR projects is to help assist field personnel with a targeted request for medical professionals, so if MMR is able to fill a team with all medical professionals, we will do so. But there are times when teams do not completely fill with medical professionals. In these situations, students are welcomed to participate. If you would be interested in participating on a project, please contact us. We would be happy to connect you to a project if there are any open spots available. These spots are on a first-come-first-served basis. Students with medical specialty fields of study are also preferred over others.
For medical and dental students, we do have opportunities for you, especially those in their third and fourth years. Medical students in the last half of their schooling are generally able to help with primary health care aspects of clinics. We are also able to set up rotations for those who may be interested. Please contact us if this would interest you.
